Seamus Power didn’t have the biggest following during his third round of the Players Championship.
But the Waterford man treated those who did gather round his attempt at the 155-yard, par-3 third hole to a magnificent hole-in-one.
Power, who came within a whisker of losing his tour card last year, couldn’t have weighted his 8-iron off the tee any better and he reacted as if the ace was almost expected when he watched the ball dribble in after landing inches before the cup.
His caddie was given a high five and there may be more fans lining out to watch Power’s final round on Sunday, with the Waterford golfer finishing his Saturday nine shots off the lead.

The 32-year-old shot a 5-under 67 Friday in order to make the cut and his ace on Saturday was the third of the weekend at TPC Sawgrass, with Ryan Moore sinking a hole-in-one at the No. 17 on Thursday before Sungjae Im did the same on the No. 13 on Friday.
Power’s hole-in-one, the first of his career on the Tour, was just the fourth ace at No. 3 in Players Championship history.
