He did all the hard work, but it just dropped short.
It’s become an annual tradition for golfers to try their their hand at skimming the ball over the pond at the 16th hole in Augusta, and Rory McIlroy has been giving it a go this week.
With the water at RedBud measuring close to 100 yards in length, you need an incredible amount of control to be able to hit a low fizzer that hops along the top of the pond, and by the looks of things McIlroy managed to do that, with the ball just failing to reach the green after it clipped the bank of the water before dropping into the water.
You can see the ball whizz along the surface, before the sighs of McIlroy and the crowd fill you in on its eventual resting place.
