Poor old Tiger now reduced to a cameo role beside the Irish world No 1
Rory McIlroy’s 2015 PGA Tour debut last night didn’t exactly go to plan. At a wild and windy PGA National course, the world No 1 finished at three over for his first round at the Honda Classic.
The uneven round, that included four birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys, left McIlroy just outside the cut mark in a tie for 79th place, eight shots behind leader Jim Herman.
To announce his return to US golf, McIlroy’s sponsor’s Nike released a new ad, all about changing your game to make it better.
Featuring a lot of Nike big names, including Michelle Wie and Bo Jackson, the role Tiger Woods plays, where they suggest making changes to win a 15th Major, is still a little jarring but it once again confirms that McIlroy is the new king of global golf.
