This is far from easy viewing.
Anyone that had hopes of Tiger Woods appearing at The Irish or US Open tournaments in the coming days and weeks, just got a dose of hard, horrid reality.
The 41-year-old has struggled with a debilitating back injury for the past three years and has not played at all this year. He registered an interest in competing at the US Open but there is little chance of that happening.
Woods showed up at the Congressional course, on Monday, to help promote the Quickens Loans event that he helps sponsor.
After giving no definitive return to play date, Woods was asked to take part in a hole-in-one competition. ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’ he must have thought as he gingerly bent to place a ball on the tee.
Woods plonked all three iron shots on the 103-yard hole into the water. Here’s how it excruciatingly went down…
First attempt
Feeling the energy from the crowd, the 14-time Major winner was in good form as he sized up his shot.
Almost as soon as he connected, however, he knew it was in the drink. “That’s in the water,” he remarked.

“Can I have another one,” he asked.
Second attempt
Preparing for his do-over, Woods remarked, “Woah, was that stiff… holy cow.’
His second effort was better but fell a yard short of the fringe and 10 off the front of the green.
Third attempt
“That’s good for me,” said Woods as he broke an awkward silence.
The host wasn’t having it and, rather cruelly, tossed another ball his way.
“One more?” asked Woods. “Ah come on!”
No.3 [or his fifth if he was playing tournament golf] fell short too as Woods lamented the perils of not warming up.
We could insert that Krusty-Burglar ‘Stop It’ Meme here but we think Woods has had enough.
Take her handy Tiger.
