We’d be happy if all tee shots were filmed like this
Who knows how many tee shots we’ve seen over the years of watching golf but we’ve never seen one like this before. Shot at Muirfield Village, it is an infrared camera view of Rory McIlroy ripping one down the centre of the fairway.
With the heat-sensitive camera, you can see the ball ‘lighting up’ from the contact before disappearing and you can also see how cleanly McIlroy strikes the ball as the grass near the tee never changes colour.
The Holyrood man’s swing is always a thing of beauty but it does look particularly sweet in glorious infrared.
