It’s been a mixed bag for the Irish at Augusta.
Offaly’s Shane Lowry is currently leading the Irish charge at Augusta after shooting an impressive 35 on the front nine.
Lowry got off to a typical topsy-turvy start as he bogeyed the opening hole before following that up with birdie on the second.
It took until the seventh hole before he recorded a par as he shot three birdies and two bogeys in the five holes previous.
Lowry birdied the eighth before finishing up with a par to round off the front nine.

This had put Lowry on -1 for the round so far and he is currently tied for fourth as he progresses through the back nine.

Unfortunately for Rory McIlroy, he has struggled in his round so far.
McIlroy is currently three over for the round after shooting three bogeys and failing to score a birdie in the opening nine.
There is still plenty of time for him to recover though so let’s hope both players can impress on the final few holes.
Update: Lowry remains at -1 with five holes remaining. McIlroy is still at +3 with six holes remaining.
