If Paul Dunne can make half the impression this year that he achieved over the last 12 months,he will be doing very very well.
The Greystones golfer announced himself to the world at the British Open last summer, and followed that up with some solid performances as he took up his first proper tour card in the latter end of 2015.
He was due to begin 2016 at this week’s South Africa Open, but had to withdraw due to illness earlier today.
It had been reported that the 22 year old was struck down with a case of food poisoning, but he’s taken to Twitter this morning to confirm that he’s been laid low with a viral infection.
Not the best timing to get food poisoning/tummy bug the night before the #BMWSAOpen. Devastated to have to withdraw this morning. #nextweek

Thanks for all the messages and support. Apparently I have a viral infection. Should be cleared up in time for next week! #JoburgOpen

Dunne is set to play at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines at the end of this month for his first of two events on the PGA Tour in the coming weeks.
