What an evening that was.
Just as it looked like Jordan Spieth was going to blow his chances at winning his first Claret Jug he managed to finish phenomenally.
After an errant tee shot on the 13th, it looked as if the 23-year-old had scuppered his chances at a first British Open crown.
A miraculous bogey from the position where he was positioned was then followed by birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie as Spieth eventually finished 12 under par, three ahead of runner up Matt Kuchar.
Kuchar was a shot ahead Spieth after the mini meltdown on 13 but could do nothing once his fellow American got going.
The 39-year-old has yet to win a major and Sunday represented another close shave for ‘Kuch’ and his family were green side to congratulate the golfer on his successful tournament.
But as Kuchar was embracing his two sons, his wife, Sybi, turned to congratulate Spieth on his maiden British Open.

“I’m so happy for you,” she said to Spieth as he made his way from the 18th green to sign his scorecard and it all seemed very genuine.
The runner up and his family congratulate the man who just beat them and being so humble and gracious in defeat is what the sport of golf and sport, in general, is all about.
