Tee times for the 2018 Masters have been released with Rory McIlroy paired alongside Jon Rahm and Adam Scott.
The trio will tee off from 6:38pm Irish time on Thursday while four-time winner Tiger Woods will tee off at 3:42pm alongside Australia’s Marc Leishman and England’s Tommy Fleetwood.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s first round at Augusta, McIlroy said that he’s scaled back his entourage this year as he tries to complete a career Grand Slam after previous wins at the U.S. Open in 2011, The Open Championship in 2014 and the PGA Championship in both 2012 and 2014.
“I think everyone feels the same about The Masters as it’s the one tournament everyone wants to go to,” McIlroy said. “But this year I’m trying to cut that back and not have such a big entourage around me and not too many people there.
“I basically want to try and treat it like a normal week instead of having seven people in the house and renting another house for 10 people.
“It becomes quite a production at times and I just want to have it chilled and quiet. It might p*** a few people off but if it helps me win The Masters, I don’t mind that.”
Meanwhile Woods went for a practice round with Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson and Thomas Pieters on Monday.
Couples said that Tiger’s play reminded him of how he was playing 10 years ago when he was just three years removed from winning his last green jacket.
“He hit a few drives there that were well worth it, whether you paid for (admission) or whether you’re in the tournament like me,” Couples said. “Today wasn’t any different than it was 10 years ago when I played with him.
“I think he’ll be a factor this week. I don’t know why he wouldn’t be.”
