A long list of famous Dunnes.
Liam Dunne. Bernard Dunne. Richard Dunne and now our own Paul Dunne.
The Greystones man is tearing it up at the Open championship this weekend, and heads into the final day as joint leader on 12 under after shooting a scarcely believable 66 on day three of the action at St Andrews.
The Wicklow man is breaking all sorts of records and could be the first amatuer since 1930 to win the Open championship if he keeps up his form.
Unfortunately if he does get his hands on the Claret Jug tomorrow evening he’s won’t get his hands on the £1.1million cheque that comes with it.
Because he is still an amateur the Irishman will have to cede his prize money to whoever comes second.
Boo.
If Paul Dunne wins #TheOpen the £1.1m prize will go to 2nd place.
He'll receive a "memento".http://t.co/HLlfFh7b3e pic.twitter.com/Qdk6fooOAu

A memento. Wow, that’s just lovely.
@BBCSport Mark James: “He probably wouldn’t worry about the prize money if he won The Open! He still gets the claret jug, though.”
