What do you do when an All-Star footballer lands on your lap? You play him midfield of course.
There’s been no mucking around for Marist Rangers. Rory O’Carroll has arrived in Auckland and he’s been thrown straight into the heart of the local GAA team.
He didn’t even have to play reserves first to prove himself.
In the same week that it was all but confirmed that the All-Star full back is unlikely to play for Dublin next year, footage has emerged courtesy of Chris Kiely of the Kilmacud Crokes man ripping it up in the southern hemisphere.
It’s not the same standard he might be used to – you know, playing on one of the best teams ever and all that – so it didn’t look too difficult for the defender who was planted in the middle of the park playing in second gear.
There are a few tricks though to getting the best out of your All-Star in New Zealand. And a few hazard signs for opposition members from St. Pat’s Emerald City didn’t heed.
1. Never, ever turn blindly into his path.
2. Don’t throw the ball up in the air when he’s around.
3. When he gives you the ball, give it straight back to him.
4. When he gives you the ball, do not drop it.
5. When you’ve got the space and he’s got a man up his arse, give it to him anyway.
6. When he decides to run, sit back and enjoy.

Watch the excellent full highlights from Chris Kiely below. Rory O’Carroll is going to do alright at this level. They won by a point by the way.
