WATCH: Noelle Healy runs from halfway to set up delicious Dublin goal

Conan Doherty

Noelle Healy could split the Red Sea with this sort of direct, driving velocity.

As it happens, she did go ahead and open up the green and red rearguard as the Mayo defence simply parted out of respect for the momentum with which she rained down on them.

It was impressive. It was deadly. But it was frightening too.

The Dublin number 15 picked up the ball at the halfway line, she lit the afterburners and left trailing players eating dust.

When she got into position, she was selfless and she was cool and she picked out Niamh McEvoy who slid in a tidy, tidy finish to hit the only goal of the first half of an enthralling ladies senior final at Croke Park.

Whilst Cora Staunton was proving unmarkable at times at one side of the field, she left a few chances out there that almost made her four-point return in the first half hour seem inefficient.

Dublin, on the other hand, were ruthless.

Healy was incisive, McEvoy was decisive and the Mayo nets were bulging with a tasty, side-footed finish that was dropped to the ground and slid in with pure class and pure composure to separate the sides at the break.
