VINE: Padraic Maher gave blood and all in Tipperary’s win over Clare today

We'd love to see the other guy

What’s good to get blood out of a jersey?

Tipperary claimed a big win over Clare this afternoon in a bit of a thriller in the top flight of the Allianz Hurling league. The Premier County emerged winners in Cusack Park in Ennis by 2-19 to 0-20. Clare were within a point when James Woodlock scored the game’s crucial second goal on 68 minutes, but his strike was overshadowed somewhat by an incident on the other side of the field.

Padraic Maher repelled several Clare attacks this afternoon at centre back but in the immediate aftermath of Woodlock’s goal referee Brian Gavin’s attention was drawn to the defender. His jersey was soaked with blood after what looked like a serious head wound but the camera didn’t pick up the incident so it’s hard to know if it was accidental or something a bit more sinister.

Either way, Maher look pretty annoyed at being asked to leave the field  and we imagine his conversation went along the lines of ‘shur ’tis only a scratch’.

It’s understood the wound isn’t too serious and Maher should be fine.
