Near neighbours and fierce rivals
The summer officially starts tomorrow if you’re a hurling fan, with Clare and Limerick set to clash in the Munster Q-final in Thurles.
The counties last met in an All-Ireland semi final in 2013, with both looking to make a big impression this season after poor league campaigns and disappointing exits in last year’s race for Liam McCarthy.
The Munster championship is well known for Dublin men selling hats, scarves and headbands pretty much anywhere in the province, as well as healthy dollops of ice-cream and sun cream in equal measures.
Oh and some of the best hurling action around as well
- Shane O’Donnell chats his sole-forward role and redemption for Clare
- Cian Lynch tells us about living with a famous uncle and the pressure of expectation
There is also a lot of timber split and dust-ups between teams as you’d expect among a province full of deadly hurling rivals, and the RTE promo features plenty of what old-timers would feel is missing from the modern game…dust ups.
Davy Fitzgerald features as does Ciaran Carey’s wonderpoint from 1996 as well as plenty of action from that All-Ireland semi of two years ago.
We can’t frickin’ wait for 4pm tomorrow.
Ahead of the game we’ve decided the best way to judge who’ll win the game is to picth some of Clare and Limerick’s finest celebs against each other in a battle to the death.(May not be an actual battle to the death)
