Tipperary hurlers and footballers handed mammoth challenge in championship draw

Davy Fitz won't be too excited either

Ben Kiely

If Tipperary are to progress in the football and hurling championship, they will have earned it.

The Tipperary hurlers have been drawn against Munster runners-up Clare in the quarter-finals while the footballers face an equally tough task of Armagh in the 3B qualifiers.

Carlow, who have been on their best run in the championship since the penultimate year of WWII have been handed a serious challenge in the form of Monaghan in the 3B football qualifiers.

Roscommon winning the Connacht title meant that there was no draw in the 4A qualifiers. Mayo automatically matched up against Cork, while Galway will face Donegal.

There’s also a tasty tie to look forward to between Wexford and Waterford in the hurling.

The quarter-finals will take place on July 23rd with venues and times to be confirmed.
