The way it should be done.
Replays. They’re necessary. Sometimes, though, it’s tough to get the timing spot on. Anyone that has worked in live sports TV production will tell you it’s a pain in the bloody arse!
It is.
Thankfully, TG4 have got the right idea. Good aul TG4. They often have the right idea.
Sunday was another great day for GAA heads on TG4. For the channel’s live coverage of the Kilkenny vs Cork in the camogie leagues division 1 final and Tipperary and Kilkenny’s hurling league showpiece, they rolled out a slick small-screen replay which allowed viewers to see the action back without the risk of possibly missing the live stuff.
And if that wasn’t enough, TG4 showed off a cracking new camera angle for puck-outs from right behind the goals. Cutting-edge coverage.
Big fan of the mini replays in the corner on TG4, great not to miss puck outs.

Has Nicky Quaids quick puckout that went wrong v Tipp prompted TG4 in to showing replays on split screen ? Great idea regardless #gaabeo

This is excellent camera work from @GAA_BEO @TG4TV . Behind the goal shots of puckouts, replays in the corner rather than us missing the game. Class stuff. Please take note @TheSundayGame @RTEsport #TIPPvKK #AllianzLeagues

This new Tg4 angle behind the goals for puck outs is brilliant. Maith on Fear @SportTG4 @GAA_BEO

Innovation at its finest, folks. Just another reason to love TG4 and their unrelenting commitment to giving GAA league action the coverage it deserves.
Your move, RTÉ.
