Sky Sports GAA have 8 of next 12 football games exclusively and there are some crackers

RTÉ really missing out here

Somebody brace Michael Duignan.

Sky Sports GAA are set to dominate the real nitty-gritty of the next four weeks of the football championship where eight of the next 12 games will be shown only on Sky.

RTÉ have rights to the Leinster and Ulster finals and two of the quarter-final games but, outside of that, Sky Sports GAA will be the home of the football championship until the semis.

The English broadcaster has rights to show the remaining two Round 3B qualifier games, all of the Round 4 matches and two quarter-final clashes.

They will also show the semi-finals and final but so will RTÉ.

As John Fogarty from the Examiner points out, over 50 per cent of the remaining games will be aired exclusively by Sky Sports GAA.

Those eight exclusive clashes take place in the next 12 fixtures and Sky really have the best pick of the games coming up.

Round 3B – Tipperary v Armagh (July 15) – Sky Sports

Round 3B – Carlow v Monaghan (July 15) – Sky Sports

Ulster final – Tyrone v Down (July 16) – RTÉ

Leinster final – Dublin v Kildare (July 16) – RTÉ

Round 4A – Mayo v Cork (July 22) – Sky Sports

Round 4A – Donegal v Galway (July 22) – Sky Sports

Round 4B – Carlow/Monaghan v provincial loser (July 29) – Sky Sports

Round 4B – Tipperary/Armagh v provincial loser (July 29) – Sky Sports

Quarter-final – Roscommon v Cork/Mayo/Donegal (July 30) – RTÉ

Quarter-final – Kerry v Mayo/Donegal/Galway (July 30) – RTÉ

Quarter-final – Tyrone/Down v 4B winner (August 5) – Sky Sports

Quarter-final – Dublin/Kildare v 4B winner (August 5) – Sky Sports

So not only do Sky Sports have the next six knockout games all exclusively, they’ll have some clinker ties like Mayo and Cork and Donegal against Galway.

They could also potentially be looking at a replay between Down and Armagh in the qualifiers and what would be an epic between Kildare and Monaghan in Round 4B for a place in the quarter-finals.

And yet again, they’ll probably end up with the most interesting quarter-final matches.
