Some of you might not know this but, listen up: Austin Gleeson and Tony Kelly are good hurlers.
Honestly.
GAA.ie has released its top five scores from the hurling championship and there are some real beauties to behold.
There was obviously room for Hurler of the Year, Gleeson, who could’ve filled the list himself but then you wouldn’t have had space for Tony Kelly’s virtuoso displays – the same man who lit up so many games for Clare and for Ballyea from the start of the year to the end of the year.
As it was, they found space for five different scorers in five different games and it’s hard to argue with them:
1. Seamus Callanan (Tipperary v Cork)
Yep, he scored from there.
2. Tony Kelly (Clare v Waterford)
Glides by a challenge like it’s a stationary cone, swings it over from the wing.
3. Austin Gleeson (Waterford v Kilkenny)
Catches the puckout, scores over his shoulder.
4. Conor Fogarty (Kilkenny v Waterford)
Bang on half way. Bang between the posts.
5. Seamus Callanan (Tipperary v Kilkenny)
The stick work. The blood stick work.
