You really don’t know what you’re going to get from Mayo but it will probably be a win

They're still in the competition and that's all that matters

What a bank holiday Monday treat.

Say what you want about Mayo, they are very entertaining.

We didn’t get our Mayo vs. Roscommon matchup in the Connacht Championship so the two sides decided to bring things to a replay to even things out for the fans, how considerate.

Stephen Rochford’s side have been poor this year, yet they are still in the hunt to win an All-Ireland and that is the most important thing.

A victory over Roscommon will mean a seventh consecutive semifinal berth and will again silence doubters that say they are not a top team and despite the lack of form the pundits on the GAA Hour believe that Rochford’s side will have enough.

Speaking of the logic that Mayo are favourites show host Colm Parkinson said:

“Roscommon have had their chance to shock Mayo and they’ve lost that chance and that chance is gone now and the favourites will win the second day.”

Former footballer of the year Steven McDonnell then chimed in, also backing Mayo.

“You would expect that to be the case but with Mayo this year you just don’t know what to expect, they’re vastly becoming the new Cork, what type of performance are they going to put in?” the retired Armagh footballer said.

“The problem with Mayo is that they’ve had three games that have gone to extra time and they’ve played a lot of hours already this year. Can they really produce it the following week?

“I think they would have enough to oversee Roscommon but it’s going to be another close match and Roscommon will certainly scare the lights out of them as well.

“They’ll be more up for it, they’ll know what to expect more from Roscommon and I can’t see the likes of Aidan O’Shea being as poor as the likes he was the last day again,” McDonnell

SportsJOE’s Conan Doherty was apprehensive that this Mayo side will ever fully get going but their star power should be enough to get them over the line.

“We’ve been waiting all year for some of these players to kick into gear but I just think they have too many players that are waiting to kick into gear and if one or two of them click like Keegan did the last day, if he can get Aidan O’Shea back up to the same level I just think there are too many options for Mayo to not win the game,” the Derryman said.

Throw in for the match is 2 PM on Monday in Croke Park.
