A fantastic touching tribute

Sheer class from the teenagers

Castlepollard Community College  are the newly crowned Leinster C1 hurling champions after overcoming Dunboyne in the final in Mullingar on Thursday.

The game was memorable not only for the result but the ridiculous conditions both teams were forced to play in with a blizzard coming down for the duration of the match.

Castlepollard emerged the winners and after their celebration they decided to pay tribute to a man who couldn’t be part of their success, former teammate Eoin Fagan, who died last May after a short illness.

The 14-year old was a bright prospect for both his school side as well as the Westmeath hurling development squad, but his teammates didn’t forget him on a memorable day for everyone in the school.

The squad made their way to the graveyard at St Michael’s Church in Castlepollard to make sure he was very much in their thoughts on the day they lifted the provincial title
