Some lovely goals in here but we’ve picked our winner.
The Ladies Football championship is in the history books but there are still All Stars and other accolades to hand out.
Dublin are 2017 All-Ireland winners after defeating Mayo at Croke Park, in late September. The Dubs have two nominees – Sarah McCaffrey and captain Sinead Aherne – in the five-goal shortlist while Mayo’s Grace Kelly also features.
Sadhbh O’Leary of Cork gets the shout for her coolly taken finish against Galway earlier this year.
Goal of the season, for us anyway, has to be Armagh’s Aimee Macken for his belting strike against Kerry. Receiving a high ball, on the run and heading away from the goal, Macken let fly with a left-footed effort that arrowed in off the far stanchion:
Credit:Macken has played some football for Northern Ireland too and her finishing skills are clearly not in doubt.
