Kilkenny unveil new jersey for first time in three years

Conan Doherty

A new look for a new Kilkenny.

2018 is the start of a new era for the Cats – it simply has to be. The 2017 hurling All-Stars list boasting zero Kilkenny natives was, in truth, f**king bonkers to look at.

15 of the best hurlers in the land were awarded for the finest individual performances of the campaign and not one among them wore black and amber this year.

That won’t happen again, there’s just no way it ever could. They have All-Stars falling out of their arses in Kilkenny and any year any of them miss out is a year wasted in having any hope of catching the greats.

So they’re starting again, starting with the strip. For the first time since 2015, they’ve unveiled a new jersey.

Last season’s kit

But that jersey only won them one All-Ireland in three efforts so it had to go.

2018 kit

And O’Neill’s have revealed next season’s effort and it’s a daring change.

The dots are gone, there’s more black and, honestly, it’s not just fresher but nicer too.

O’Neill’s launched the new Kilkenny jersey and the Cats welcomed in a new dawn at Nowlan Park.

Slick, modern, not too much – this is a fine piece of knitwear.

It still isn’t available to buy but expect there to be a queue. The comeback starts today.
