The only thing better than a final weekend showdown of the Super 8s is a couple of mouthwatering semi-finals.
Only six days after the quarter-final group stages are finished with (the GAA prefer we don’t use the term Super 8), the last four counties remaining in the All-Ireland championship will trade blows in a shootout to make the football decider.
We know that both Galway and Dublin are in the semi-finals already and they’ll be joined by two of either Monaghan, Kerry, Donegal or Tyrone. What we don’t know is who will play who and when they will play.
One of the semi-finals is set for Saturday 11 August at 5pm and, because Dublin are already guaranteed top spot in group 2, they know their fate is playing in that first semi just six days after the Roscommon match – luckily for them, the game means nothing.
Kerry, however, can only manage a runner-up spot at best in group 1 and that means, if things go their way, they will meet Dublin at Croke Park in the All-Ireland semi-final on the Saturday evening.
Here’s what every county needs to happen to make the semi-final.
On Wednesday, details of those last four fixtures were released.
