Jim Gavin names his Dublin team for the All-Ireland final replay

Mikey Stafford

We go again.

And this time Jim Gavin has decided to stick.

With a Saturday replay we are in the unusual situation of not knowing the Dublin and Mayo teams until a day before the game – it is like having Giovanni Trapattoni back in our lives.

Whether you put it down to Mayo doggedness or Dublin under-performing, everyone expects the reigning champions to deliver a better performance in Saturday evening’s replay.

To that end Gavin has stuck with the same 15 that drew 2-9 to 0-15 with Mayo on September 18.

Kevin McManamon keeps his place despite many anticipating Paddy Andrews coming in to replace him – Andrews, incidentally, was superb when he came on for the black-carded James McCarthy in the drawn game.

But Jim Gavin has kept the faith.

Or he’ll just announce three or four changes to the programme before the game.

Will it be Mayo (or the Dubs) 4 Sam? Wooly, Paul Galvin and Conán Doherty preview Saturday’s All-Ireland final replay.
