Irish ladies football team find ingenious way to deal with freak rainfall in UAE

Despite Ireland being a fairly wet country at the best of times, we’re poorly equipped to deal with our most common meteorological occurrence.

But whatever about Ireland getting the odd shower of rain, drops of precipitation are fairly uncommon for anyone living in the Middle East and, in particular, Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

Hundreds of Irish people have headed there for work over the last number of years. Naturally, many have turned to the local GAA club to help them make friends and settle in.

Conditions in that part of the world in January are normally are well over the 30 degree mark on the thermometer, and even at night it would still be considered a more than warm day here with temperatures in the mid-teens.

But not last night as weirdly training for the Al Ain Ladies football team was badly affected by rain.

But the hardy girls of the club were ready for the conditions, and some, such as Mayo footballer’s Alan Dillon’s sister Lisa, who thought swimwear would be more appropriate,

Was a wet one in the desert tonight! ? Not to worry, well equipped we are! #gaaswimwear ?☔️??
