Huge upset

Galway passed their biggest test yet in their return to the top flight with flying colours.

It’s party time for Galway after they upset the odds to defeat Kerry in the Kingdom. The Tribesmen travelled to Tralee to score a memorable 0-14 to 1-14 victory Allianz League Division One clash on Sunday.

Kevin Walsh’s men threw another big scalp on their impressive 2018 haul after opening with wins over Tyrone, Donegal and Mayo.

The Tribesmen really hit the ground running by taking a 0-5 to one point lead in the first half. Kerry struggled to close the gap and entered into the break trailing by four points.

Galway continued to maintain the lead through Eamon Brannigan’s goal in the second half. This lit a fire under Kerry who responded with some fine points but just couldn’t bring the game level.

David Clifford had a strong performance with an impressive return of 0-6, but it was that goal that proved to be the difference. A late attempt from Walsh went wide meaning the Connacht men were able to hold on to score an impressive win.

There won’t be an empty Supermacs in Galway tonight!
