The best and worst inter-county GAA training jerseys

The Sligo and Cork ones are delicious

Conan Doherty

When you run out of GAA jerseys to talk about, there’s only one thing you can do really…

Talk about GAA training jerseys instead.

When you don’t have drug test controversies or black cards or appeals to whinge about, there’s not much else really to be doing with yourself during midweek doldrums but looking at which county team has the nicest GAA training jersey.

Whether you’re shopping on O’Neills, Azzurri or Masita, the range of Gaelic kit available is breathtaking at times – other times, you’d rather have no breath left than have to look at any more of the ugly ones. There are gems to be found though if you want it badly enough.

We want it so badly that we’ve branched out to look at training kits and, by God, it was worth it.

Not every county boasts a training jersey for the public to see just yet. Some of them that you can see aren’t on the market but they’re still worth a peek alright.

Here is a selection of 19 of the best and worst available to view right now.

Waterford

Mmmmhhmmmm. This is a fine bit of work.

Kerry

They don’t like the colour silver in the Kingdom but this is a champion of a jersey.

Galway

Inoffensive.

Sligo

Jesus Christ, look at this.

Look at it.

Mayo

An old one now but still passable.

Kilkenny

Interesting. The blackened out idea would work better without the red logo plonked over the top.

Cavan

Meh.

Donegal

Blue, green, dark green, yellow and some version of black – together at last.

Fermanagh

Pretty good and very bloody different to their playing kit.

Monaghan

Nah.

Tyrone

It was always going to be downhill from their usual jersey.

Armagh

Holy Moses.

Down

Better.

Dublin

This is cheating, really.

Antrim

Lovely piece of knitwear.

Derry

Tasty.

Wexford

No. Just no.

Cork

Perfection.
