Sure what could possibly go wrong?
A draw in the GAA is always a long shot – by the bookies standards anyway – but a draw in the GAA is not that uncommon. Just ask Mayo.
Honest to God, at any level, in any county, back to draws in the GAA and you’ll be getting odds at 11/1 for tight games which you know would end up in a draw more times than not.
So we’ve thrown one in our five-team accumulator for this weekend but for a game involving two counties far too used to each other.
On The GAA Hour, Steven McDonnell, Conán Doherty and Colm Parkinson gave their predictions for both the league season ahead and the first round games coming up this weekend but if you back yourself – or back a draw and one outsider playing away from home – you might just make yourself a small fortune.
All you need is for Offaly and Longford to draw and you need Donegal to beat Kerry away but with Donegal’s new signing from Dublin, they’re looking in some shape this year.
Five-team accumulator
Laois (h) to beat Limerick – 2/7
Armagh (h) to beat Sligo – 8/15
Donegal (a) to beat Kerry – 5/2
Dublin (h) to beat Kildare – 1/5
Offaly v Longford draw – 15/2
You can get over 70/1 if those five teams come up.
If you don’t fancy backing a draw, you can still get over 8/1 for four times.
Go ahead, sure the bookies always lose money. Listen to the rest of the predictions at the end of the show below.
