The new Down training jersey is earth-shatteringly beautiful

Christ alive

If you thought Davy Fitz’ bit of modelling was good, wait ’til you see what’s been going on up north.

The new Down training jersey is otherworldly gorgeous but it was almost – almost – upstaged by the artistic photography shots that were once more evident at yet another GAA press event.

Down play Tyrone in the Ulster football final on July 16 in Clones and it promises to be a cracker.

Fresh from back-to-back upsets against both Armagh and then Monaghan, Eamon Burns’ men are eyeing a third ambush in as many games but they won’t be taken lightly by the Red Hand outfit because, as Kevin McKernan would tell you, critics writing Down off has only lit a fire under the camp.

It will take something special though to break the Tyrone formation but if Down can boast one thing, it’s that they’ve won the picture competition heading into the decider.

Small victories come in all sorts of packages ahead of big games.

And the Down outfit were nothing if not relaxed in their media day.

Relaxed in their new gorgeous piece of kit.

A white rig with enough red and just a fearless dash of black.

Really though.

The manager was just chilling out.

Not everyone was in the best of form though.

Connaire Harrison had the fists clenched and whilst the photographer might tell you it was to punch the ball, you have to wonder if the poses were getting too much.

That feeling started to spread.

Over in Tyrone, there were laughs aplenty as someone came up with the idea of getting Mickey Harte to putt a football… with a driver.

Whilst Niall Sludden and Kieran McGeary were concerned with more important matters of making their biceps look bigger.

Big day for Casio watches all the same.

Kit isn’t half bad either but it doesn’t compare to the Down training jersey.
