Down star Connaire Harrison is breaking up his stag in Ibiza for club championship

Patrick McCarry

Mother of mercy, THIS is commitment.

First off, we can only imagine what Connaire Harrison’s club manager made of this when he first heard the news.

The Down star, and All Star nominee, is playing his club football with Neasden Gaels in London and, by all accounts, tipping along nicely.

With the league trophy secured and his wedding later this year, Harrison was chuffed to learn he would be off to Ibiza for his stag do.

Last Sunday, he played the Intermediate Championship against Garryowen GFC and the 4-15 to 1-13 victory presented a problem, and a ticky one at that.

Asked in the survey (above) for his toughest opponent, Harrison replies, ‘Alcohol’. None of that in Ibiza…

The stag started on Friday morning and Neasden are playing the Intermediate final on Sunday. Was the Mourne man ever going to miss it? No f***ing chance!

Breaking up your own stag in Ibiza to go back and play club championship for your new team? That’s commitment, love and insanity all mixed into one.

As for the booze, we can only take the forward’s word for it.

We hope for his sake that Neasden Gaels get the win on Sunday. If so, watch out Ibiza.
