It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
The thing about club championship final is that there’s a place for everyone.
Sure, it’s sad when your season ends prematurely and you’re not part of the big day but it’s also just so damn good lying back with your feet up, clinging to a hot drink, wrapped in layers, sitting comfortably in the stands watching some ball.
As October hits overdrive, trophies are being handed out left, right and centre, dreams are being dashed and the provincial series is taking shape.
It never ends and, still, it never gets old.
This weekend, 15 different senior finals across both football and hurling will take place around the country. 14 of them will unfold on Sunday with just the Kildare hurling decider throwing in on Saturday.
And two of Sunday’s clashes will be broadcast on TG4.
Roscommon SFC final
Clann na Gael v St. Brigid’s
4pm – LIVECork SHC final
Midleton v Imokilly
DEFERRED
The Down Gaels might wonder why the decider between two of its most proud clubs in Burren and Kilcoo didn’t make the cut but the Cork and Roscommon finals are there on merit.
Clann na Gael topped a group including St. Brigid’s and already beat the champions by a point back in April. Burren might be the most fitting contender to stop Kilcoo winning a record seven in-a-row but the Roscommon championship has been enthralling this season and this pairing is perfect for the final with the underdogs coming in genuinely fancying themselves – and with good reason.
