Move over Ger Loughnane, Clare GAA have a new celebrity supporter.
Yes, that’s the most famous person from Clare we could think of off hand. If any of our readers from the Banner county want to inform us of an improbably ridiculous oversight like… I don’t know, Kim Kardashian’s relatives in Lahinch, feel free to do so in the comments.
Until we’re told otherwise, we’re going with Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Paul Ryan as the most famous Clare GAA fan. At the time of writing, he has 2.53 million followers on Twitter.
We already knew he was proud of his Irish roots. In fact, he was proud enough to use the #Ireland hashtag on Twitter. (Let’s get that bad boy trending!)
I take great pride in my Irish roots, so it was a pleasure to have #Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs visit my office yesterday. 🇮🇪 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/1sP9tTp1qL

Ryan may have let his GAA allegiances out of the bag in his special Father’s Day message too.
Just eight seconds into the video he uploaded to Twitter, Ryan is clearly seen wearing a Clare GAA jersey while posing during a family mountain biking session.
Whether he knows who Tony Kelly is or if he was just given the shirt at some ribbon-cutting event remains to be seen. However, if you want to claim him as your own, Clare, we’re not going to stand in your way.
