Calling for nominations for the 2017/2018 club Team of the Year

Niall McIntyre

Who deserves to make this team?

Club GAA, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

The season is never really over, is it? Not for the best teams anyway. The All-Ireland finals won’t be complete until March 17 and by that stage, the League stages of next year’s county competition will be taking off.

Club GAA is never idle. Most club teams are flat out with their winter training programmes at this stage of the year, gymming and slogging and getting ready for the year ahead.

Other teams, like Kildare and Leinster champions Moorefield, for example, were only knocked out at the weekend in the All-Ireland semi-final stages. They’ll have a few weeks off and then they’ll be back into the thick of it again.

Corofin, Slaughtneil, Nemo Rangers, Cuala and Na Piarsaigh are still going. These teams are all at least 12/13 months on the road without a break and still going strong.

Throughout the 2017/2018 season, we were provided with some thrilling club games, we watched some outstanding individual performances.

Here’s how you can reward the players who did it at the highest level.

AIB are seeking nominations for the AIB GAA Club team of the Year in both hurling and football.

We want you to send us on your club team of the year. The formation is your standard GAA lineout – One goalkeeper, six defenders, two midfielders and six forwards.
Line your team out in the comment section and we will send them on to AIB GAA.
 Eligibility
  • Nominees must have played for their club during the 2017/18 season
  • The club must have reached the provincial stages of the AIB GAA Senior Club Championships
  • The Club must be a senior seeded club
