You’re not going to get a more inspiring source of advice than Joe Schmidt.
The Ireland head coach is an absolute wealth of knowledge and he imparted that very knowledge on Ballyboden St Enda’s ahead of their AIB All-Ireland club final against Castlebar Mitchels next week.
Schmidt joined the ‘Boden players for a private training session back in January where he explained to the squad that some may not get the opportunity to start but that a team mentality was required if they were to succeed.
Speaking to 98FM, ‘Boden’s Darren O’Reilly said: “We actually had a meeting with Joe Schmidt about six weeks ago and he was just talking to us about [the fact] that there’s lads that are obviously going to be disappointed that they’re not starting.
“But it’s about putting that aside for the benefit of the team and I think they’ve done that and done that very well.
“It was in the club. It was a private session with the players and he kind of gave us a bit more insight into how professional teams are run and the mentality that they bring to every training session and every match.”
