Austin Gleeson doesn’t do things by half measures.
The 2016 hurler of the year had quite the season and he dragged his county within a dog’s whisker of the Al-Ireland final. He will get them there.
You could’ve picked him out for any award, you know, and SportsJOE’s GAA Hour podcast did give that a good go.
His point against Kilkenny in the drawn semi was point of the year.
His goal could’ve been goal of the year.
Any of his displays could’ve been put down for individual performance of the year too.
It’s no wonder either with the work he puts in.

Gleeson’s talent and dedication extends way beyond the hurling field though. He grinds in the gym. He even does it for the Mannequin Challenge.
The Waterford IT Sport Scholarship group produced a video to remember with Austin Gleeson mid box jump.
He even held it for the camera.
Spare a thought for the poor chap holding the bench press in the back.
