The appetite of Bernard Brogan knows no satisfying.
Of all the things he’s achieved, of all the records he’s broken, Sunday is right up there with the very best of them.
In what was a procession at Croke Park, Dublin completed the Super 8s with a rout over Roscommon, winning 4-24 to 2-16 in the end. Eoghan O’Gara netted twice and a bullet from Paul Flynn lit the place up but the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for the 64th minute when Bernard Brogan made his way onto the pitch, once again donning the Dublin jersey he has been so successful in.
At 34 years of age, an ACL injury would be the finishing of the best of men but Bernard Brogan isn’t like most of them.

After suffering that horrendous injury in February when he tore his cruciate ligament, Brogan underwent surgery just 23 weeks ago and, somehow, he’s playing an All-Ireland quarter-final in August.
- 11 Leinster titles
- 5 All-Irelands
- 5 national leagues
- 4 All-Stars
- 1 Footballer of the Year
Brogan has done it all and he keeps coming back for more. He’s been brought to his knees by time and circumstance and he won’t let it define him.
Back in February, he was ruled out for the season.
Today, he’s back in the frame and he’s two games from a sixth All-Ireland.
Can you even be surprised anymore?
