A Hollywood move for sure
Wrexham’s ambitious plans to reach the top of English football are showing no signs of slowing down as they prepare to try and make another huge signing.
Under the guidance of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as owners, the Red Dragons have hit the headlines and secured back-to-back promotions to reach League One.
New signings to bolster the squad are most certainly needed and the Hollywood duo have their eyes on some big names.
One of the many names touted with a move is Jamie Vardy, who has just fired Leicester City back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Vardy’s contract expires with the Foxes in the summer and the two parties are in talks about signing a new deal however, if they can’t agree to a deal, the 37-year-old will walk away for free.
The Premier League winner has made it clear he has no plans to retire and Rio Ferdinand has backed the striker to make the move to Wales.
Speaking on his FIVE podcast, he said: “The only club I’d like him to go to now, if he’s going to leave, would be Wrexham.
“Because it’s got a bit of a Hollywood feel, and he’s had a Hollywood career I think.”
Everybody knows Vardy’s story from non-league to Leicester legend as he became the first non-league player to be signed for £1m.
Other options are likely to be available to Vardy. A move abroad to somewhere like the MLS almost seems like a given to be linked with but reports have suggested that Leicester are close to agreeing a new one-year contract as the second tier champions prepare for life back in the Premier League.
