West Ham fans set up GoFundMe to send Simone Zaza back to Italy

The Italian has failed to make an impression

Simon Lloyd

Big things might have been expected of Simone Zaza when he arrived at West Ham in the summer.

After all, forgetting that woeful Euro 2016 penalty for a second, here was a guy that was a full Italian international and someone that had played a (small) part in Juventus’ recent domination of Serie A. Surely, given the chance to play regular first team football in the Premier League, this was a man that would light up the English top flight, helping the Hammers build on a promising debut season for Slaven Bilic, right?

Wrong.

West Ham United v Accrington Stanley - EFL Cup Third Round

So far, Mr Zaza has failed to convince anyone that he’s good enough to be staying around at the London Stadium beyond next summer.

In fact, things have now become so bad that some West Ham fans have decided to try and club together to fund a trip back to Italy for the misfiring striker.

The ‘Send Zaza back to Turin now’ GoFundMe page is already up and running, as shown by the tweet below.

‘Raising money for the one way flight to send Zaza back to Italy or any other European place that will take him,’ the page reads, before adding: ‘ [as] far away as possible from West Ham.

Asking for just £75, the total had reached £15 at the time of writing. Better start packing your bags, Simone, pal.
