West Brom fan coins witty James McClean chant to the tune of English national anthem

"God save James McClean"?

Robert Redmond

Would James McClean turn his back on this song?

The West Brom winger appeared to turn his back on the English national anthem, and the Union Jack flag, before a pre-season friendly in the United States last weekend.

McClean is already divisive figure among football supporters in Britain due his refusal to wear a poppy, so you can imagine how his latest gesture went down with some across the water.

However, one West Brom fan has seen the funny side of the whole incident, and has coined a song in honour of the Derryman.

“God save our James McClean”, is to be sung in the tune of the English national anthem “God Save the Queen”, and should go down well among at least half of the home crowd at the Hawthorns next season.

Very clever.
