Pure joy.
Gudmundur Benediktsson’s commentary on Iceland’s last minute winner against Austria was easily the best thing we’d ever heard… until later that day when Robbie Brady’s header sent the Stade Pierre-Mauroy into raptures as the Republic of Ireland beat Italy.
The Icelandic commentary is incredible though.
Benediktsson almost combusted with joy as Iceland counter-attacked in injury-time with the game poised at 1-1. A win for Austria would have sent the smallest country to have ever qualified for an international tournament home, but Arnor Ingvi Traustason secured a 2-1 win and set-up a last-16 game against England.

The footage of Benediktsson jumping for joy, howling and screaming with joy as he’s commentating is a brilliant watch. We hope his colleagues didn’t pull him up on the “no cheering in the press box” rule.
