WATCH: Will Grigg’s fire still ablaze as he’s already off the mark for Wigan this season

Fire in the hole

Ben Kiely

Will Grigg scored his first league goal of the season on Saturday and there were unconfirmed reports that some Blackburn defenders were… what’s the word? Afraid?

One Rovers player who may be terrified of opening up the newspapers or flicking on Championship highlights is Ireland’s own Shane Duffy.

The defender, who’s being linked with several clubs in the Premier League and Celtic, had a shocker of a moment during the 3-0 loss. The Derry man scored an almost comedic own goal by turning in a cross from the brilliantly-named Max Power.

Uh oh spaghettios!

Prior to this. Power turned provider for the game’s opener when his scuffed shot found the head of Euro 2016 “star” Will Grigg who guided into the net to open his account for the new season.

It was a tidy finish, but that’s really the least we expect from one of Europe’s top players. However, the genuine fear is that Grigg picks up where he left off last season and continues to bang in the goals, we’ll be hearing a lot more of that chant that has already outstayed its welcome… you know the one we’re talking about.
