Wayne Rooney has rolled back the years tonight.
The Manchester United captain’s form has experienced an upturn in recent weeks, with Rooney scoring 4 goals in the club’s first four games of the year.
Against Derby County tonight in the FA Cup, Rooney scored a goal reminiscent of something he would’ve scored back when the two sides last played each other in January 2009.
Rooney collected a forward pass on the edge of Derby’s penalty area, turned away from the defender and curled it past Scott Carson.
"That is a special, special goal!" @WayneRooney fires @ManUtd ahead. 🔥 #EmiratesFACup https://t.co/3i1BJjzP46

Was he offside when he collected the ball though?
Rooney or United fans won’t care, he’s already beaten last year’s total for away goals.
3 – Wayne Rooney has now scored in as many away games in 2016 as he did in 2015 (3). Improvement.
