It’s important Victor Valdes puts things into perspective at this point.
After all, only last month he was a pariah at Manchester United, banished from the first-team by Louis van Gaal and reportedly made train alone.
So, although he made a massive howler on for Standard Liege, the Belgian side he’s currently on-loan with from United, at least he’s no longer a f0otball outcast.
However, that Valdes had a game to forget after he flapped at a corner during Liege’s 2-1 loss to St.Truiden on Sunday. Liege had been leading in the game.
The goal was eventually scored in comical fashion, when a Liege defender’s clearance smashed off striker Nick Proschwitz’s face and went into the net, but Valdes was clearly at fault originally.
But, like we said, it’s important to have some perspective, Victor.
This time last month you were in career purgatory at United, so although this isn’t a great start to life with your new club, things could always be worse.
This time two years ago you were on the same team as Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta and Neymar, but let’s not focus on that.
