WATCH: Seamus Coleman gets absolutely roasted by young Everton fan

He took it well, in fairness

Seamus Coleman was pure class here.

When you’ve been bested on the football pitch, sometimes all you can do is applaud your opponent.

Coleman is a guy that craves winning almost as much as he craves football. Anyone that has ever listened to his post-match interviews will know that.

Still, sometimes it is not your day.

The Ireland captain paid a visit to the EITC Down Syndrome team as part of the Everton’s endeavours to promote and highlight World Down Syndrome Day. Coleman posed for some snaps and signed autographs before it was time to get down to the real business – football.

The defender joined one team and Everton coach Ian Snodin joined the other and both sides let rip. There was a game to be won but what shone through was the sense of fun as it all played out.

Coleman may not have enjoyed one tussle with a tricky winger that ended up with a superb goal and Coleman with his head in his hands.

That’s what you get for backing off and giving a lad space to shoot…

Some strike, in fairness.
