We don’t remember the weather being this good.
Rio Ferdinand scored a famous winning goal for Manchester United over bitter rivals Liverpool back in 2006. The defender rose highest to head home from a free-kick in the 90th minute, giving United the three points and sending Old Trafford into raptures.
Ferdinand spent 12 years at United, and, as a centre-half, didn’t score many goals. So it’s only natural the former would remember such a moment with great fondness.
The defender, who retired at the end of last season after a season at QPR, is currently on holiday, and has attempting to re-create that famous moment.
The Stretford End is gone, as are the thousands of fans, opposition players and, well it’s Rio jumping off a boat into the water saying “90 minute”. There’s also no football. But, we’re sure, in his mind’s eye, it’s just like being at Old Trafford again for the former defender.
