Great sportsmanship.
Germany dominated France in the first-half of the Euro 2016 semi-final, but went in at the break 1-0 down thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s penalty and Bastian Schweinsteiger’s hand.
However, despite that setback, the moment when Jerome Boateng went off injured was arguably the point when it appeared the game was beyond the world champions.
Just before the hour mark, Boateng floated a pass out wide to Julian Draxler, and appeared to pull his hamstring in the process.
The Bayern Munich defender, who had been in excellent form throughout the tournament, was forced off injured and Germany had to patch up their already makeshift defence by bringing on Shkodran Mustafi.
After losing Mario Gomez to injury and Mats Hummels to suspension ahead of the game, and then conceding against the run of play, losing Boateng to injury just seemed to confirm it wasn’t going to be Germany’s night.
As Boateng left the field, France star Paul Pogba tried to console him in a nice show of sportsmanship.
