Fuming. Absolutely fuming.

It took 14 months for Louis van Gaal to settle on the defence he wanted at Manchester United. The Dutchman chopped and changed, last season, but went into 2015/16 with a plan and, up until last night, it appeared to be working. Darmian, Smalling, Blind and Shaw was the back four. Just four goals conceded in seven games and David de Gea was back in nets - life was looking good. That was until the 20th minute of United's defeat to PSV Eindhoven last night. Luke Shaw fell afoul of a lusty Hector Moreno challenge and - after suffering a double leg fracture - he will be lucky to play again this season.

Van Gaal was quick to console his young left-back, last night, but his reaction upon hearing the seriousness of the injury says it all. Shaw will be badly missed - in defence and in attack.
