WATCH: Karim Benzema reveals his superstitious pre-match ritual with the Real Madrid kitman

For good luck

SportsJOE

It turns out that the Real Madrid kitman has played a tiny part in all 161 of Karim Benzema’s Real Madrid goals, at least according to the striker.

Benzema recently revealed the superstitious pre-match routine he goes through before kick-off that he believes delivers good luck to his boots.

Real Madrid’s official YouTube page captured the French striker lacing up his boots for a pre-season training session and also caught a glimpse of his personal ritual that he does while preparing for action.

Benzema first hangs his right foot in the air, where the toes are touched by the club’s kitman, before the process is repeated with the left foot and he can then take to the pitch.

It is probably worth keeping a keen eye on Benzema’s inevitable decline in form if the kitman ever decides to call it quits at the Bernabeu.

Either that or nothing will change at all because it’s complete bollocks.

Not sure which.
