Once upon a time, Jesse Lingard was the bright young thing at Manchester United.
Making his debut in August 2014, against Swansea, the local-born winger was shipped out on loan again to Derby before returning to the Old Trafford mothership last season, for what proved to be a breakthrough period for the 23-year-old.
However following his bright start to the season, he was somewhat overshadowed by another academy graduate – Marcus Rashford – who scored eight goals for the club from February onwards and went on to play for England at Euro 2016.
Rashford has shown great form again at the start of this season, scoring four goals in seven matches.
Added to that, Lingard’s old underage buddy Paul Pogba has returned for a world record transfer fee from Juventus. It would be enough to make a wideman feel a little self-conscious.
Seemingly not our Lingard, who has been ripping the piss/bigging up both Rashford and Pogba on Snapchat and Instagram on Monday.
Possibly passive aggressive, possibly just sound, Lingard films Pogba eating his lunch and talks about the French international’s exorbitant transfer fee and love of dabbing. In an excruciatingly irritating voice.

He then walks down a stairs with Rashford and, in the same voice, talks about the teenager’s uncanny knack for scoring on his debuts – Europa League, Premier League, England, FA Cup, England U21, EFL Cup.

Throw in the crying laughing emojis and it is obvious Lingard is totally cool with his team-mates stealing his thunder. Totally cool.
In fairness, Lingard’s social media game is strong, so maybe he is just having a laugh. We should stop being so serious.
