Could this be the new Pierluigi Collina?
We don’t like to compare many referees to the legendary no-guff-taking official but this piece of work from Tuscany this week reminded us very much of Collina, albeit a much calmer Collina.
The hard-as-nails official who took charge of a game between Castel San Niccolo and Fortis Arezzo earlier this week made a disgruntled player look more than a little bit silly after he lashed out when given his marching orders.
As the ref looked away from the incident to continue the game, he fell victim to a brutal chopping kick to the knee.
Did he go down? Of course not.
He took it like an absolute champ, stared the furious player down and calmly walked the teams off the pitch, without so much as a limp.
Hero!
